After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan, he established his architectural practice in Canberra in 1956, contributing to the development of the city’s modern architectural identity. His work combines European modernist principles with a strong response to the Australian landscape, characterized by asymmetrical compositions, sculptural concrete forms, expansive horizontal rooflines, and a nuanced use of natural light. Taglietti was particularly interested in the relationship between architecture and nature, as well as between space and its occupants. Through interconnected spatial layouts, fluid circulation, and carefully orchestrated light and shadow, he brought a distinctive experiential quality and human warmth to residential, educational, and public buildings. In 2007, he was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medal.
